Notes by

Major Discussions Topics

  • Equipment
    • Transferred stash from Greg to Isaac’s
    • Updated inventory pending
  • Pacificon 2022
    • What talks to have at the conference?
      • Happy to give a talk about everything that's changed in the latest AREDN release
    • Will we have a table?
      • Goal of table?
        • General presence - not being there makes people wonder why you didnt come this year
        • Find people to goto and help them setup nodes
          • Towers
          • Individual HAMs
      • Not give out free hardware as not enough return for cost
  • High site access
    • SF VA
    • Other sites mentioned (I forget their names)
      • Is there a list of high-sites we use together with contact and other information?
  • Backbone construction
    • Marin connection to Rob? Where from?
    • 60GHz across Bay connection not yet functional
      • Not clear what needs to be done to complete this
    • 3GHz links to other site (I forget the sites involved)
    • Is there an actual plan for the backbone?
      • Which sites does it link and how?
      • How do non-backbone sites connect?
      • What parts exist? What parts need to be put in place
      • All high sites accessible?
      • What is impeding progress?
  • Band Plan management
    • Goal here appear to be to manage the WiFi spectrum in a similar way to how repeater spectrum is managed
      • Who is responsible for “holding” the band plan?
        • We don't want to, but not clear why anyone else would
      • Someone needs to explain a mesh band plan to me. I get the concept but the implementation seems very different from how a repeater band plan would need to operate due to the highly directional nature some links could have.
