BAM Weekly Working Group Aug 29th, 2022

Pacificon 2022
- Booth is at a different spot from last year. People seemed less enthused about this spot.
- Last year we had a couple of sectors outside and a camera an ran a connection to a node inside. We had a large map of the current network, posters, and a flyer to hand out We also gave away about 40+ NSM5s which we will never do again
- Need a Google doc for signups to man the table Saturday and Sunday
- We decided Isaac was responsible for everything
- Dave proposes getting the node map from last year and putting it up with a new node map so we have a good visual representation of how the mesh is growing
- We might want to get some free-standing easel so we can put up posters not just at the table
East Bay Area Section Meeting
- Not quite sure what this is (could be HAM or OES)?
- Daniel Goldstein was mentioned who is involved with OES for Alameda County
Backbones
- Discussions of various backbone sites recently visited and/or updated
- Discussion of collaboration with Matthew Kaufman's network (on-going)
- Some discussion about how to solve some of the problems of building such a beast
  - Seattle network flagged as providing useful feedback on what they did (contact: Randy Nils VE3RWN [check], referred by Jim)
Microwaves in general
- Jim discussed his record breaking long-distance microwave links
- Some talk regarding SNR improvement for various links
